and so we resumed...

August brought another change of plan,  well perhaps a reintroduction of a modified plan?

We've just returned from Canada via Ireland.  Watch this Space for a report.

July 2015

Technical note:

The 2015 schedule is currently on hold (and removed from navigation bar).  Apologies,  this is because of unforeseen circumstances.

We hope to resume, as normal, late 2015 or in 2016.

SY Wyvern of Stavanger

Today saw Scotland and Norway come together when we found Stavanger Museum's historic Colin Archer yacht in the Caledonian Canal.

On her way to the 2015 Tall Ships Races,  she was accompanied by her sail-training replica,  Wyvern of Aalsund.

Garden birds

Welcome to June,  welcome to summer?

Some birds are feeding their young,  others are only beginning to look for somewhere to build their nests.

...and on to Tobermory

As we drove off the ferry in Fishnish (the Isle of Mull ferry terminal),  hail started to fall.  Fortunately, by the time we arrive in Tobermory,  the weather changed and sun appeared.

Bikes, tourists & Ballachulish.

I set off for Oban this morning and got as far as Glencoe before the lovely sunshine and thought of a café stopped me.

Funny start to the year.

It has definitely been a funny start to 2015.

We've had very few outings (apart from the March/April cruise) and haven't had anything very exciting to write about at home either.

All changed this week !

Knowing CMV's Astor was visiting Tobermory,  we considered a visit to take some photos of the ship in CMV's colours.    Having had lovely warm sunshine the previous week,  the forecast for Monday was a return to winter.   I kept changing our minds (yes, these words are the correct tense)  and when we woke up on Monday morning it was cold but clear.

A drive to Kilchoan,  we caught the Calmac ferry to Tobermory as foot passengers.  It got more and more cold,  it was raining.

Astor was being repositioned as we sailed past and the 85 year old Nahlin was also at anchor.

The weather won,   after getting thoroughly soaked and cold,  we got an early ferry back to Kilchoan,  picked up the car and drove home.

First cruise of 2015

First cruise of the year,  first cruise on MS Magellan,  first time MS Magellan has visited Norway.

A great combination.

Started booking for 2015.

We've sheltered from the Scottish storms,  enjoyed being out in the snow,  now it's time to start booking for the 2015 season.

This year is a bit different.   Some UK rail companies are allowing bookings, up to 24 weeks in advance, for certain routes.   The Caledonian Sleeper will soon be bookable months in advance.

What has changed?   perhaps customer demand?   perhaps change of contracts?

Our first Norwegian trip of 2015 is still months away, but the transport and accommodation are already arranged,  the rest of the year will follow soon.

Until then,  we hope to see you around in Scotland.
